Not Getting Referrals? Do These 5 Things...

Not every week is going to be a home run for your business.

But that doesn't mean you can't learn and adjust.

Sometimes it's good to start fresh with a simple checklist that you can execute on the following week.

So if you didn't have record breaking success last week, here are 5 things you can do to generate more referrals right now...

1) Meet some new business owners.

The great thing about fellow business owners is that they GET referrals.

And they tend to know a lot of people.

And they tend to know the RIGHT people.

You don't have to meet them in person, but adding more business owners to your sphere is crucial for generating more referrals.

2) Create some educational content.

Putting content out there shows that you are serious about your business.

And it positions you as a leader in your industry.

If you can do it consistently, it's a great way to get more exposure.

It doesn't matter if you're a one-person shop or you have 100 employees.

Write some simple words of advice for your prospects and grab some free exposure.

3) Refer people to other businesses.

This is EXTREMELY effective and it doesn't cost a dime.

The law of reciprocity is on your side as well, since most folks will want to return the favor.

4) Ask past clients "who else needs help?"

You never want to use the word "referral" when asking for a referral.

When you try to genuinely help your prospects, you'll find that people are more than willing to make introductions.

5) Create a clear call to action for people who might have referrals for you.

People can have the best intentions, but if you don't tell them exactly what to do, it usually never gets done.

So before you start engaging with people for referrals, make sure you give them a path to actually make the referral.

Should they send you an email intro?

A text?

Do you have a landing page for them to share?

Have you started your own referral program? (this is what we do for our clients)

Whatever it is, make the next step for your referral sources VERY clear.

Hope that helps get you a few more referrals next week!

Rooting for you,

Tom
